How To Treat PUPPS

I'm going to start off by saying, once again, that PUPPS is treatable...not curable.  Most doctors will give you steroid shots or medicated creams to relieve the itching but this pregnancy rash will stay with you until you have had your baby.  There are a few women who have reported getting PUPPS after the birth of their child but this is extremely rare.

The question of the day is "What do you do when the shots and the creams don't work?"

There are a few tricks that I have picked up while researching this uncomfortable rash.  If this information had been available in 2000 when I had the rash, I would have been a much happier pregnant woman.  This page is a compilation of the treatments I have learned and I hope that they help to give you relief.  If you have come up with a treatment (that really works) please let me know so that I can add it to the site.  We need to work together to help pregnant woman everywhere who are in so much discomfort from PUPPS.

  • Sleep on silk sheets.  This helps with the irritation.
  • Take daily baths.  Use luke warm water and mix in Aveeno Oatmeal Bath Treatment.
  • Stay out of the sun.  It will only inflame the rash.
  • Take an allergy medicine such as Benedryl to help slow the outbreak of the rash.
  • Try Sarna Anti-Itch Cream.  A reader, Amy, recommended this!  She says that it will have a soothing, cooling effect that will last for 20-30 minutes but will help the itch longer.
Here is a list of home remedies that come highly recommended by the past sufferers of PUPPS. The links will take you to Amazon where you can read up on the items and/or purchase them for home use.  If you want the most up-to-date tips, follow me on Twitter where I post the tips I get daily.
